Captain of the Rhean guard

My work on redesigning my old 2021 character designs continues. This time I am remaking a Rhean warrior - a captain of the Rhean guard.

I'm still practicing my new painting technique and it took me about 30 minutes to digitally paint this character and I'm still confused how fast it was.
I feel like I should work on it for at least an hour more, but at the same time it feels done. I just ruined (and unnecessarily wasted time) with the pommel of the sword.

I think the key to success in painting from gray to color is to spend more time on the drawing itself.
More advanced and technically skilled digital artists can divide a painting by using masks and then color or change individual parts - which I can't (or don't want to) do - skill issue.
