Hyborian warriors

Unfinished character design of Hyborian warriors from Conan the Barbarian (created by Robert E. Howard).

His stories take place on Earth, but in the mythical Hyborian Age, between the time of the sinking of Atlantis and the rise of known ancient civilizations.

It is sometimes difficult to depict the individual races of the Hyborian Age more precisely, as Howard sometimes contradicts himself in the description of his fantasy civilizations with a real history and different time periodes.

For example Pictish Wilderness is basically Scotland, with an overlay of colonial era North America. Howard use Algonquian (native american people) for his Picts. Note that the name "Pict" comes from the Latin term for "painted one" (term for Celts dwelling in Scotland), which could be applicable to Native Americans. Sometimes the Picts are depicted as Neanderthals which again deletes all the mentioned descriptions...

Here is the first part of my art process (+ YT link), where I tried to design the Hyborian warriors based on Howard's lore, but took a bit of artistic freedom at the same time.

Just some news and update:
Right now I feel little bit burned out.
It's been exactly a year since I started sharing the creation of my illustrations on Youtube. A lot has changed during that time - for the better, I'd say.
If you remember my beginnings, it was tough. I appreciate your support all the more during at that time. And thank you for being with me on this journey.
I am grateful to have such a "small" community of wonderful people.
I hope my work makes you happy and maybe even inspires you a little.

Work on my Unknown World will of course continue, but I would also like to dedicate myself to other creations and projects. During the next year, a lot will change for us again, and I wish you all to get through it with ease, calmness and peace. Everything is as it should be, and you will be in the right place at the right time. Trust your intuition, follow your passions and spend time doing what you love.
