This time in colors and with sneak peak of #illustration of #battle at Vultera
I would like to take a moment and talk about how I #coloring my #drawing
As a "former" gouache #illustrator I am doing tilling painting method which I learned from one of my favorite artist @jeffreywattsart
Its very easy and fun.
Let me share little #arttips and #tutorial how it's work:
1) first you start with flat colors in mid tones used as underpainting and for idea of look
2) second step is using bright and dark colors for defining light and shadows
It gives object more 3d look.
Notice how I am not trying to be precise with brush strokes. For that part its needed just blocks of colors. Here comes third part.
3) when all colors are set, start blending them together for smooth ( #gouache ) look
In traditional gouache you would use just wet brush to blend colors in space where they meets.
In digital you need to use tool for #blendingcolors such as smudge brush or normal brush with lover opacity.
4) in fourth step add some details, ornaments and reflection
Normaly I am using basic round brush with hard edges for all #digitalartwork but it's great to use some sort of textured brush for some parts of your painting like for example for metal/leather armor and ground.
Goal is to indicate texture of real objects that you are showing.
Hope it help and as always
Happy painting :)
