Godfrey's Rebellion / Almarian warrior

South of the Tengri steppes lies the vast forest region inhabited by the Almarians.
These people are very brave and fighting. To fall in battle is the only appropriate death for them. Almarians are experienced craftsmen and blacksmiths.
Armed with throwing spears and axes with bronze tips, cladded in iron lamerral armor and helmets with bull horns attacking in waves with warcry and regardless of formations or personal injuries everyone wants to appear in his best in front of their chiefs.
They prefer to raise (or steal) cattle - work on the fields seems to them good just for slaves...

Yo, new #illustration of Almarian #ancientwarrior
Everytime I do new #characterdesign in #worldbuilding for GR book I always think: what if?
What if I mix #celts and #assyrians together?
How they live? Is it loggical in this #fantasy world?
At beggining I wanted Almarians look like #franks during #darkages
In #lineart I #draw #scalearmor but it felt wierd...
I love #illustrations by my favorite artist #angusmcbride and how he did warriors from bronze/iron age. So I remembered how eastern ancient and medieval cultures were using lamerral armor sew on leather.
Fictional Almarians are ancestors of real #saxons and vikings also used that armor...
And it was logical as Tengri are nomadic tribe inspired by Huns and Mongols that Almarians surely trade with them and here we are. ;)

Thx for reading😊
