One of the biggest challenges while developing Akvila Conquest has been establishing a consistent visual identity for the Tharkan Empire.
Over the past years, I've been exploring the evolution of their warriors across several centuries of history—from scattered pastoral tribes armed with javelins and bronze weapons to the disciplined armies of the Tharkvilonian Empire equipped with iron armor, cavalry, and professional infantry.
These sketches are more than simple character designs. They helped me define the progression of Tharkan military culture, including their weapons, armor, shields, helmets, symbols, and the technological transition from bronze to iron. Since the Tharkans play a central role in the history of my world, creating a coherent visual evolution was essential before producing the final illustrations.
These pictures represents the complete timeline of a civilization—from its tribal origins, through the rise of King Akvila and the expansion of the Tharkvilonian Empire, to its eventual collapse during the Great Flood and the nomadic Tengri invasions.
Although these are still exploratory sketches and artworks, they establish the visual foundation for future illustrations and stories set in my unKnown world of Ída.
I hope you enjoy the work, and as always, feedback and suggestions are welcome.
