Atlanteans were the first great empire in the unKnown world, which was technologically and militarily more advanced than other civilizations.

Their policy was aggressive and conquering.
Invasion troops consisted of cavalry lancers in a wedge formation, heavy infantry with shields and spears and shock infantry specialized in close combat, which covered flanks or made assaults on weak points of the enemy's line.
There were also Coastal raiders and other lighter navy units who could also support land army.
Atlantis was guarded by the elite Temple guard and smaller cities by street patrols and trained militia...

(for Instagram): So you guys could choose between two designes (spearman or "sarissa" pikeman) and 92% voted for spear + shield. So here is little lore:

Heavy spearman infantry stood as a reserve. They carried fish-scale metal or leather armor, helmets without plume, long spear, stabbing sword and wooden shield framed with bronze.
Soldiers rested their shields on the ground and the first two rows inserted their spears into the hole on the right side of shields so they made impenetrable spiked wall. This formation served as a regrouping point for rest of the mobile troops and cavalry. Spearmans advanced in to the heat of battle only when necessary.
