Art process:
I usually do a few quick sketches before each illustration. After that, I spend quite a bit of time redrawing and coloring, and finally I bring everything together and repaint. Sometimes (often) I find that the black lines of the drawing show up, which they shouldn't. The new technique I'm testing now has sped up the whole process by a few hours and even though it's not as detailed, the final illustration or design seems cleaner to me.
Basically, I spend a little more time sketching and adding shadows. During sketching, I already design different elements of the character and choose what seems best to me.
Then I add an underpainting and paint directly on these two layers. In the end, I just add the details and it's done.
